NORFOLK, VA: As part of the zoo’s Senior Wednesdays program in honor of National Senior Citizens Day, seniors 62 and older can enter the Virginia Zoo for free every Wednesday from August 20 to September 24.

According to the Virginia Zoo, Senior Wednesdays will include:

, where completing any five tasks in a row earns a zoo-themed prize -

specifically geared toward older visitors

Celebrating 125 Years of the Virginia Zoo
In addition to offering free entry, the zoo is asking seniors and their families to submit family portraits and recollections about the zoo that could be included in its 2026 celebration of its 125th anniversary.
Longtime visitors have the opportunity to contribute to zoo history by submitting through the official anniversary webpage.
