COBB COUNTY, GAT Two Georgia men have been taken into custody in Pennsylvania on suspicion of killing Curtis Coleman in 2024, according to law enforcement.
Jayden M. Hooks, age 21, and Malik Drake, age 23, were taken into custody by U.S. Marshals without any problems. After a months-long investigation by the Cobb County Police Department, both are charged with felony murder and aggravated assault.
Murder Investigation Dates Back to March 2024
The accusations are related to a fatal event that occurred on March 21, 2024, at the Extended Stay America on Powers Ferry Road. Cobb County Police responded to a distress call stating that someone was hurt inside a car.
Officers discovered 43-year-old Curtis Coleman inside the car, dead from a gunshot wound. Hooks and Drake were named as suspects when authorities promptly began a homicide investigation.
Suspects Await Extradition to Georgia
Both guys are currently awaiting extradition back to Georgia after being arrested in Pennsylvania. They will be formally charged with Coleman’s murder in Cobb County after they return.
The reason for the shooting and whether the suspects were previously connected to the victim have not yet been revealed by authorities.
More Updates Expected As Case Develops
Authorities have said that further information would be made public after the suspects return to Georgia and the judicial proceedings commence. The case is currently ongoing. Their extradition has not been given a timeframe.
