County of Spartanburg, S.C.A 48-year-old Boiling Springs man lost his life in a working accident at Spartanburg Steel Products. According to the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office, the event took place at the factory’s location on New Cut Road on Tuesday.
Russell Edward Layton Jr., the victim, was operating a forklift when the deadly accident happened, according to officials. He was taken by emergency personnel to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, where his injuries ultimately caused his death.
OSHA Joins Investigation
Local officials are receiving assistance from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) as they look into the incident’s circumstances. Officials have yet to provide any information regarding the accident’s cause or the specifics of the forklift operation at the time.
