S.C. Fairfield County.According to authorities, a brutal shooting occurred Tuesday in the Lake Wateree area of Fairfield County, killing a 37-year-old woman and injuring another. The suspected shooter, who was apprehended during a tense confrontation in Greenville County, is one of three males who have subsequently been detained.
Deadly Shooting Unfolds During Argument
A report of shooting at a residence on Durham Place Road prompted the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office to respond, according to officers. One woman was discovered dead inside, while another was wounded by a gunshot wound to the hip.
The deceased victim was identified as Spartanburg resident Laporsha Jasma Farr, 37. According to authorities, she would have turned 38 on Thursday.
According to WYFF News 4, the second victim was transported to Prisma Health Richland and is still in stable condition.
Suspects Flee, Then Captured
According to deputies, the violence started when the two victims and three men got into a fight. According to reports, one of the guys—later identified as Jerry Jones, 41, of Greenville—drew a gun, shot Farr in the neck, then shot the second victim in the hip before he and the other two men fled the scene.
A multi-county manhunt was initiated by authorities.Over the course of the following two days, Benny Grady and William Mack were detained without incident. Jones was apprehended on Thursday after a three-hour standoff in Greenville County.

Officials verified that Mack and Grady were both prosecuted as accessories after the fact.
The case was supported by several agencies, including the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, Greer Police, and Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this case, and I am grateful for a swift resolution to this devastating crime,” said Fairfield County Sheriff Will Montgomery in a statement.
