Charleston, South Carolina.In an effort to bring South Carolina’s veteran unemployment rate even lower than the national average, firms throughout the state are showcasing thousands of job openings and new resources for veterans of the armed forces on National Hire a Veteran Day.
Every year on July 25, the day is observed as a call to action for public employers and corporate America to hire veterans of the armed forces, who frequently contribute discipline, leadership, and specialized skills to the civilian workforce.
According to data reported by Live 5 News, the unemployment rate for veterans in South Carolina is even more outstanding at 1.7%, compared to the national average of 3.7%, which is already lower than the overall civilian rate.
Why July 25 Matters for Veterans
In order to coincide with the busiest time of year for military transitions, National Hire a Veteran Day was established in 2017. An estimated 200,000 service personnel leave the military annually, with many doing so in the late summer.
The objective is to raise awareness in a timely manner so that transitioning servicemembers and their employers may connect at this critical period.
