North Charleston Man Arrested for Trespassing and Deadly Hit-and-Run

Charleston, North Carolina.According to local police, a 29-year-old male has been taken into custody and charged in relation to a tragic hit-and-run accident that happened in North Charleston earlier this month.


Crash Occurred Near Piggly Wiggly Drive

A car struck and killed a person on August 5 near the intersection of Rivers Avenue and Piggly Wiggly Drive. The vehicle fled the site of the incident. Officers from the North Charleston Police Department were notified of a disturbance on Flintwood Court a few days later.

According to the caller, the person who was causing the disruption was the owner of the truck that was involved in the fatal crash. Lewis Pinckney was charged in the case after officers arrived on the scene and confirmed the connection. (WYFF News 4)


Charges Filed and Suspect in Custody

Pinckney is now charged with two crimes:


  • Trespassing

  • Hit-and-run resulting in death

After his arrest, he was taken to the Al Cannon Detention Center.

The victim’s other details and the possibility of additional charges have not been disclosed by the police. The inquiry is still under progress.
