The search continues for a White County man wanted in connection with an alleged assault on a deputy sheriff in Habersham County.
34-year-old Jonathan William Harris of Sautee-Nacoochee remains at large following an early morning incident on Wednesday, June 11, in the Chopped Oak Community off Talmadge Drive in northern Habersham.
Harris is accused of trying to run down the deputy in his vehicle and then fleeing the scene on foot. That prompted an ongoing manhunt involving multiple law enforcement agencies.
Harris faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault upon a law enforcement officer, obstruction of an officer, fleeing and eluding police, possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a crime, and theft by receiving stolen property. Authorities say Harris also has outstanding warrants from a separate, unrelated case.
Law enforcement officials released two photos of Harris—one from a 2012 arrest and a more recent image. Officials continue to urge the public to be on alert. If you see Harris, do not approach him. Instead, call 911 immediately.
The investigation is ongoing, and officials are asking anyone with information about Harris’s whereabouts to come forward.
