Jackson Man Found Dead in Driveway After Overnight Shooting; Aiken County Deputies Investigating

Jackson, SCA Authorities in Aiken County are currently looking for clues in what is being treated as a homicide investigation after a 27-year-old Jackson man was shot and killed early Tuesday morning in a residential neighborhood.

Deputies responded to reports of shooting at roughly two in the morning on the 5000 block of North Silverton Street, according to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office. When they arrived, they found a man—later identified as Dequon Hill—in a car parked in his driveway, unconscious.

Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables stated that Hill was declared dead at the scene from gunshot wounds to the body at around 3:40 a.m. No other injuries were reported in the event, according to authorities.


No Suspects or Motive Identified

Law enforcement has not yet made any arrests or disclosed any information regarding potential suspects or the motive behind the fatal shooting.

According to Coroner Ables, there was no information regarding a shooter or shooters or anybody else engaged in the gunshots. An autopsy is anticipated to be conducted in Newberry later this week as part of the ongoing investigation in cooperation with the coroner’s office.

Whether the shooting took place inside the car or outdoors has not yet been made clear by the investigation. The crime scene is still being examined by authorities, who are also searching the vicinity for possible witnesses or security footage.
