S.C. Fort Mill.York County deputies are looking into a tragic shooting that happened early on Sunday morning at a Motel 6 close to Carowinds Boulevard. This is the second homicide in the region in a single weekend.
Shooting Reported Outside Motel 6 Parking Lot
The incident happened in the parking lot of the Motel 6, which is situated at 3541 Foothills Way in Fort Mill, at approximately 3:30 in the morning. When deputies from the York County Sheriff’s Office arrived, they discovered that one person had been shot dead.
No more injuries were recorded in the incident, and the victim’s identity has not yet been made public.
One Person in Custody for Questioning
Although no charges have been filed as of yet, deputies have taken one person of interest into custody for questioning.
Authorities have not yet disclosed information regarding a motive or if the victim and suspect were acquainted, and the investigation is still ongoing.
The incident happened close to Carowinds Boulevard, a busy thoroughfare close to the border between North and South Carolina.
Second Homicide Reported in York County Same Weekend
Following another murder in Clover the night before, 19-year-old Noah Immanuel Walter was taken into custody and charged with both murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Paddlers Cove Drive was the location of that incident.
WCNC Charlotte said both investigations are still under progress.
