Additional tree-related hazards were reported on GA 197 near Thornwood Subdivision in Mt. Airy, where a tree partially blocked the roadway. A tree was also reported partially blocking Highway 17 at Daniel Road in Demorest.
Now Habersham has received reports of additional trouble spots from readers, including a large tree down across Mud Creek Road near the Habersham/Hall County line. Trees also fell on a house in Turnerville and two houses in the Windridge Road subdivision north of Clarkesville. And a tree was reported down across Alley’s Chapel Road near Clarkesville.
There have been no reports of any injuries.
Crews are working to clear the debris and restore electricity to hundreds of customers in the county who lost power during the storm. Officials have not given a timeline for when the roads will be cleared and electricity restored.
As cleanup continues, authorities urge drivers to use caution and avoid affected areas. Be aware that trees in saturated soil may fall. Motorists should remain alert for debris, utility crews, and changing road conditions as cleanup continues.
