Elizabeth City, North CarolinaThe Elizabeth City Police Department reports that an atriple shooting occurred Sunday night in the 500 block of Lane Street, leaving one person dead and two others in critical condition.
Shooting happened around 10 p.m.
After receiving reports of shooting in a residential area close to Lane Street, police arrived at around 10:00 p.m. Officers found three victims of gunshot wounds and several bullet casings at the location.
On the spot, one victim, a guy aged 21, was declared dead. The victim was a local person who lived close to the scene of the incident, according to authorities.
Two others wounded, including teenager
After being shot, two other victims—a 19-year-old and a 21-year-old man—were taken to a local hospital. The 19-year-old’s injuries were described by the police as significant, but they did not disclose any other information regarding their present state.
Homicide investigation underway
Although they stressed that the shooting seemed to be an isolated occurrence, Elizabeth City Police are treating the incident as a homicide investigation. The public was informed by officials that the community is not in danger.
As of Monday morning, no arrests had been made, and the reason for the shooting is still unknown.
