NC’s Davison County.According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, a collision on Friday afternoon forced the closure of all lanes of Interstate 85 North near Exit 87 for US 29 in Davidson County.
Traffic was stopped as authorities attempted to reroute cars off the freeway following the incident, which happened around Mile Marker 86.
Detours in Place
The area’s drivers are being told to take Exit 87 onto US 29, then use Exit 86 for South Main Street and East 10th Avenue to re-enter I-85, and then follow Cotton Grove Road/NC 8 back to the interstate.
In order to reunite with I-85 North, drivers can also choose to continue down US 29 into Guilford County.
Cause of Crash Unknown
The cause of the collision and whether any injuries were reported have not yet been made public by the authorities. Drivers are asked to stay away from the area until lanes are restored, and crews are still on the scene.
