North CarolinaA In a distressing altercation that has since gone viral on social media, a black truck driver hauling mulch in North Carolina claims he was approached, threatened, and detained by a group of white men, some of whom are reportedly armed. Although no charges have been made as of yet, the June 28 incident has provoked indignation and requests for an investigation.
Trucker Says He Was Accused, Trapped, and Threatened
The driver, who goes by the handle @noturningback_98 on TikTok, shared a now-deleted video of what he says was a planned attack when he was employed at a dump. He claims that when he first arrived at the place at approximately 5:45 a.m., an employee informed him that he was too early. He claims that after consenting and departing, he later came back only to be challenged by the dump owner’s son.
After the man accused the driver of snatching his phone, the altercation reportedly got more heated. According to the driver, the owner’s son returned around twenty minutes later with five other men and an apistol showing on his belt.
The driver added, “I let him search my truck after he accused me [of stealing] for about thirty to forty minutes.” The men originally let him go, but not for long as surveillance footage purportedly showed the phone wasn’t taken.
Video Shows Threats and Alleged Harassment
According to the driver, he started recording when the men came back while he was parked at the top of the landfill and pushed him back into his truck. One man is heard shouting on the video:
Climb inside the f**** vehicle! Stay in your truck until something goes wrong because the sheriff’s department is coming to collect you and your f****** mutt. **
Despite not wearing a badge and sporting a Wright Brothers Construction shirt, one of the white males allegedly claimed to be a sheriff. The driver said that his dog, Coco, was hurt when the mob banged the door of his truck. He said, “She’s at home with my family because she doesn’t ride on trucks anymore.”
Trucker Claims Bulldozer Was Used to Trap and Tip Truck
The driver claims that the group blocked his car with bulldozers and then pushed it over, which may have been the most disturbing aspect of the incident. Additionally, he says that as the altercation got more heated, they told him to cease recording.
As he recalled in the now-deleted TikTok post, “He [the owner’s son] and his friends and guns start to run after my truck and attack me, opening my door.”
Driver Seeks Legal Help; No Arrests Yet Reported
According to the trucker, he is actively looking for legal counsel. No formal identification or charges have been filed against the individuals implicated as of yet.
Although the video has now been removed after generating a lot of internet discussion and condemnation, many people are now wondering if accountability will be forthcoming.
