Georgia’s AtlantaAccording to Atlanta police, a road rage shooting on Highway 166 westbound injured two young children Friday morning. After a traffic accident, the eight and thirteen-year-old girls were riding in a car with their mother when they were grazed by a single bullet.
Traffic Dispute Escalates into Gunfire
According to police, the shooting was caused by a collision between the girl’s mother and another motorist close to Sylvan Road. The other driver struck both daughters when he shot a revolver into the mother’s car as she tried to approach him.
Around 9 a.m., the mother drove to the BP gas station on Main Street in East Point, where the injured children were found by responding authorities.
Victims Expected to Recover
Doctors at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta verified the children’s unstable condition after they were brought there. Both are anticipated to fully recover after being grazed by the same bullet.
21-Year-Old Suspect in Custody
Bennie McCoy, 21, was taken into custody by police in relation to the incident. He is charged with several offenses, including:

Officials say East Point police, who arrived to the gas station first, helped make the arrest. McCoy is presently being held at Fulton County Jail.

Minutes after the event, Elyse Logan, who was walking past the petrol station, said:
I have two children, ages ten and thirteen. I could have been that person.
Dominique Perry, a frequent local visitor, added:
It’s really startling because I’m normally around kids this age—an 8 and a 13. I just realized.
