Alligator Near Georgia Kids’ Complex Caught with Chicken Bait and Relocated

Georgia’s Bibb County.Animal enforcement officials have securely captured and transported a hungry alligator that wandered close to a children’s sports complex in Bibb County.

The animal enforcement team from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of the reptile near a pond on Raley Road, which is adjacent to places where children frequently use facilities.

Caught with Chicken Bait

The four-foot-long alligator was lured and caught by Animal Enforcement Officers Rebecca Galeazzo and Leann Strickland using a trap baited with a whole chicken, according to the sheriff’s office.

The animal was then moved to a remote location far from residences, places of business, and public areas, according to officials.

Community Safety Priority

The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers that wildlife poses in residential and recreational settings, particularly those that kids use. Authorities stressed that the alligator had to be moved for the sake of the animal’s welfare and public safety.

Since then, the children’s complex has returned to its regular operations with no reported injuries.
