PROSPERITY, S.C. An disturbing episode in the town of Prosperity came to an end when a big albino python that was wandering about Mid-Carolina High School in Newberry County was securely captured.
The snake was found crawling close to the school’s grounds, according to Newberry County Sheriff Lee Foster. Luckily, Warren Gallman and a few pals were able to notice the python and capture it before it could endanger the neighborhood.
Albino Python Believed to Be Abandoned Pet
Although the size of the snake has not been verified, photos released by police enforcement showed three people carrying the huge animal. The python is probably an exotic pet that was released, Sheriff Foster said, adding that this species of snake is not indigenous to the area.
According to Foster, it is thought that this was a pet that was released. They are outstanding Americans and courageous individuals.
Residents are concerned about the occurrence, particularly because of the snake’s close proximity to a school campus.
Authorities Caution Against Releasing Exotic Animals
Wildlife experts caution that releasing exotic pets can have harmful effects on the environment and the general public, even if South Carolina does not currently suffer a python invasion like Florida, where such snakes are now deemed invasive and subject to bounty programs.
Although there is currently no official word on what will happen to the python that was caught, the case has brought attention to the need for more stringent enforcement of laws pertaining to exotic animals and responsible pet ownership.
