North Carolina’s RaleighEarly Saturday morning, the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a special weather statement alerting people to the possibility of intense fog in several areas of central North Carolina.
Alert Covers 23 Counties
The alarm went into effect at 6:28 a.m. and lasted until 9:15 a.m.The following counties were included in the advisory:
Person, Granville, Vance, Warren, Halifax, Orange, Durham, Franklin, Nash, Edgecombe, Chatham, Wake, Johnston, Wilson, Stanly, Montgomery, Moore, Lee, Harnett, Wayne, Anson, Richmond, Scotland, Hoke, Cumberland, and Sampson.
Fog Reduces Visibility
According to officials, patches of fog formed over parts of central North Carolina, reducing visibility to as little as a quarter mile in some places.
Drivers were advised to exercise extra caution when commuting in the morning.
The NWS recommended driving at slower speeds and just using low beam headlights.
Morning Travel Impacted
By late morning, the fog had cleared, but the NWS warned drivers that things might change fast and that visibility could decrease again in certain places.
