North GeorgiaFollowing terrible flooding that left many families in North Georgia without homes or possessions, families are receiving much-needed aid. The North Georgia campus of Brainerd Baptist Church has developed into an essential resource center, aiding with the community’s recovery one truckload at a time.
Church Steps Up Amid Widespread Flood Damage
A number of households were relocated and significant property damage was caused by the recent flooding that swept over sections of North Georgia. Brainerd Baptist Church volunteers have responded by turning their campus into a distribution hub for disaster supplies.
In order to help flood survivors, volunteers organized cleaning goods, bottled water, and clothing while unloading trucks full of donations.
Robby, a volunteer at the church, described the current state of affairs as “just an absolutely terrible situation.” Our church has always been mission-driven, and we want to do everything we can to support the people of North Georgia. We want these necessities to let people experience the love of Christ because there has been so much destruction and the loss of so many families.
Donation Efforts Continue Through the Weekend
Church leaders stressed that there is still work to be done. In an effort to assist as many families as possible in the wake of the hurricane, Brainerd Baptist has declared that it will continue to take donations until Sunday.
The goods being collected are primarily intended to help families with basic recovery requirements, such as replacing wet clothing, cleaning up flood-damaged homes, and obtaining safe drinking water.
WDEF recently covered the church’s activities, demonstrating the scope and passion of the endeavor.
A Community Effort Rooted in Faith
Brainerd Baptist Church has previously spearheaded relief operations. The church has a reputation for putting the needs of the community first and has long backed local and international projects. They are carrying on that tradition with their response from North Georgia.
Robby continued, “We want these families to know they’re not alone.” We are here to support them at this trying time.
