Union County Man Sentenced After Pleading Guilty to Sexually Assaulting Two Young Girls

A 50-year-old man who admitted to assaulting two children for years while posing as a trusted family member has entered a guilty plea to many charges of child sexual abuse in Union County, North Carolina.

According to the Union County District Attorney’s Office, Pierre Casimir entered a guilty plea on Friday to three counts of indecent liberty with a child. He received a prison term of 32 to 49 months and will have to register as an ex-offender for 30 years upon his release.

Abuse Spanned Years Before Victims Came Forward

Officials claim that in 2010, when the two victims were only seven and twelve years old, respectively, Casimir started molesting them. The torture persisted for about four years, but it wasn’t until both victims were adults in 2022 that the assault was reported to the police.

The inquiry was headed by the Union County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities stated that the victims’ bravery in coming forward at last helped bring about accountability and that delayed reporting is common in such tragic circumstances.

District Attorney Praises Victims Bravery

Trey Robison, the district attorney for Union County, offered his condolences to the victims, saying:

I applaud these victims’ bravery for coming out and completing this process. After all these years, I hope that the jury’s decisions will provide some measure of justice and closure.

Assistant District Attorney Megan Pfuntner, who has worked on several high-profile abuse cases in the county, prosecuted the case.

Legal Outcome and Sex Offender Registry

The necessity for decades-long registration as a sex offender may seem like a short sentence—just over two and a half years—but it guarantees that Casimir’s criminal past will be monitored for the majority of his remaining years. The verdict is intended to send a strong message of justice and deterrence, according to the prosecution.
